Enigma Chapter 6
The silence was heavy and bitter as another gust of sharp wind brought the smell of city over the hillside.
Tempest brushed her hair aside to protest, her cheeks burning wildly under frocks of wild wavy brown hair, which was blowing in all directions and blinding her despite her efforts.
Again Dumbledore held up a hand.
" I insist. A Complement from the Order."
He said simply, making Tempest fall short.
There was something going on here; Severus knew that. There had to be. It made no sense for some one as wise and experienced as Dumbledore to send him on frivolous missions when Severus knew that he was needed much more on the front line.
He scowled at the old man as hard as he could trying to figure him, as Tempest tried to think of some sort of something to say.
With a knowing twinkle in his eye the old wizard reached into his sleeve and pulled out an envelope.
" This, Severus, is for you." He said softly. " Do not read it where you can be seen, and destroy it when you are done."
Her CatalystAs she walks through the maelstrom, the words trace upon the tips of her fingers and press into the stone. Every brick, every crack in the concrete, every crossed and angular stroke in reds and blacks and oranges. The drips of the gasoline pool around the base of her boots, slosh as she steps over the burst pipes and the rubble.
So much rubble. So little outcry. The silence of the city grates on her eardrums and the mantras she'd been forced to memorize. The Seers demanded they observe thirteen years of recitation before they attempt to weave their first World together.
But who other than the Seers can claim the incantations that knot the skeins they twist and pull on like reins hold fast? When have any of the Sisters recorded the visions they traced upon space-time and recited them, left them open for critique and discussion and debate?
